Story & Restoration Notes
Big Red was our very first classic—our “OG.” Back around 2000, I found her in a Louisiana issue of AutoTrader, parked in a Shreveport shop called “The Big Toy Store.” She drove pretty well at the time, so a buddy and I trailered her back to Texas. She quickly became my daily driver and the family favorite.
But time caught up to her. Original suspension, tired brakes, sloppy wiring, and a fading transmission meant it was time to do it right. So, in 2014, after spinning a couple of bearings, we tore her down to the frame and started fresh.
Over the next six years, mostly working weekends, we rebuilt everything—engine, trans, rear end, brakes, A/C, wiring, and interior. Munoz Customs took her back to bare metal and laid down the deep Porsche Garnet Red that stops people in their tracks today. She’s got the look of a true classic with the heart of a modern build.
