Story & Restoration Notes
Darla is a 1965 Mustang Fastback 2+2 we found at Mecum Houston in 2025. She had us at first glance. Named after my wife’s grandmother, Darla is a sweet ride with a streak of sass. After a successful road trip home to Denton (rescue truck in tow, just in case), we got to know her quirks fast—exhaust leaks, wiring gremlins, and a C4 transmission that wasn’t thrilled about 70 mph.
Thankfully, a lucky find at the Pate Swap Meet set us up with the parts for a full manual swap. She’s got solid bones and a sharp silhouette—classic fastback lines with just enough patina to catch a camera’s eye. She’ll soon be wearing Shelby Blue Metallic with white stripes, setting her up to be a head-turning GT350 tribute car. Interior touch-ups are coming, but even now, Darla turns heads and sparks conversations everywhere she goes.
