Lady Gatsby – 1928 Studebaker Dictator Sedan

Lady Gatsby joined the SpeedNut family after Cindy spotted her at Mecum Dallas in 2025. Out of the entire lineup, this Studebaker stood out instantly. Even though Cindy had been to many auctions, she had never actually placed a bid until that day. She jumped in, held her ground, and won her very first Mecum auction. The moment became even more memorable when the auctioneer called out, “Little lady, you have the bid.” Once home, Lady Gatsby proved to be in impressive condition for a 1928 classic. She ran well, delivered plenty of smiles, and quickly created memories, including Cindy relaxing in the spacious back seat, asking Wyatt for “Grey Poupon” during a joyride.

Her first real test came at the Pistons and Paint show in Denton, where the fuel pump gave out near the finish. Tracking down parts for a car that is nearly a century old is always an adventure, but it is also part of her charm. Lady Gatsby had already been restored before she arrived, so her current journey is all about preservation, reliability, and honoring her original character. No modern upgrades. No major changes. She remains exactly what she was meant to be, a beautifully preserved time capsule from 1928.
