Story & Restoration Notes
Ruby’s not just rare—she’s one of two. We found her at Collins Brothers Jeep in 2020, a true barn find missing her engine, transmission, and plenty of critical parts. Featured on Dennis Collins’ Coffee Walk after the Marti Report came back, this 1969 “R” Code Mach 1 was exactly what we’d been searching for.
We stripped her to bare metal, dropped her on a rotisserie, and quickly realized we had a lot more rust than expected. Wyatt went to work welding in new metal throughout. Doors, fenders, trunk lid—all replaced or rebuilt. And after a long search, we finally tracked down a real 428 Cobra Jet in Alabama. Piece by piece, we rebuilt Ruby from the ground up.
Today, she’s a resto-mod masterpiece: modern drivability with era-authentic muscle and an exterior that pays tribute to her name—and my mom, Ruby, who loved a red sports car. With a white interior, factory A/C, and a thunderous 428, Ruby is everything a muscle car should be—and then some.
